Relationship Guru Matt Titus is featured in the current issue of Cosmopolitan Magazine giving his insight into the sometimes "scary" world of The “Crazy Ex.” Read an excerpt of the article below:
When guys talk about past relationships they will surely have a story or two about a “crazy” ex. Most men, including myself, use “crazy” to describe an ex in order to disguise themselves as the victim rather than the villain in their past relationships.
In fact, we would rather have you believe there is a whole society of crazy exes out there we have so gallantly escaped from, than to admit we caused the problem in the first place. The crazy ex-girlfriend is a fantasy character fabricated by men in order to manipulate their current girlfriends into giving them their complete undeserved allegiance.
So, here’s how to translating your man’s version of the “Crazy Ex”
He says, “She called me 20 times in one day”
Translation: She really only called him three times, after he disappeared the day after they slept together.
He says, “She broke into my apartment and ransacked the place.”
Translation: Post break-up, he couldn’t find the time to return her laptop and she had to ask the superintendent to let her get it.
He says, “She stalked me for weeks.”
Translation: They bumped into each other, once.
